Need a good scope for my FAL

Mounted a cheap UTG scope to try first. Using a DSarms mount and I'm printing 2" patterns at a 100 yards. 4x only and one mil. dot will cover a soda can. This rifle is worth a better scope. Is there a 3x9 for under $200 that will stand up to a lot of shooting?

I've had a Weaver Classic on mine for a couple years. I have the same exact scope on a Finn Mosin Nagant too. It's a good scope for the money.

I've found Natchez has good prices on them: www.natchezss.com

You might shop for a used Leupold.

Leupold has a lifetime warranty, even if you are not the original owner.

The very best scope in the world might not shrink those group sizes, The FAL really is not the best platform for optics.

I enjoy shooting my FAL without a scope. I do like the windage adjustable Para rear sight, and a turned down thinner front sight however.

Id rather have a Hampton Lower with A2 sights than a scope, but I dont like glass or batteries on FALs, (or M-14s, or G-3s or AKs...ect).

I like a scope on my FAL. Optics eliminate the wobble between the receivers and the wobble of the rear sight, that is such an issue with the FAL.

With my scoped FAL, we shoot clay pigeons, at 500 yards, my buddy running a string of 8 in a row, not too bad for an "inaccurate" rifle platform.

A scope will help in long range target recognition and detection, and with the DSA scope mount, I think that the FAL is the one of the easiest MBRs to mount optics on.

Check out the Burris Fullfield II scopes. Good quality, for under $200. I like them, though I am disappointed that their Balistic Plex, is set up to only be accurate at 9 power, this makes it less usable for field use, IMHO.

Bwana John, I'm not trying for a smaller group, just a scope that easier to use. One mil. dot is covering 4 inches of paper at 100 yards, I worked hard to get that group. I've scoped rifles that print sub MOA but they are bolt actions. Just looking for a scope that will take the hammering of a semi-auto. Thinking a Leupold VX-1 is what I want.

Found a used Leupold VX-2 for $125
