I started reloading several months ago so I am still new to the reloading world. The other day a friend and I were talking about me possibly reloading for his 30-30. The question about why there were no spitzer-pointed bullets for the 30-30 came up. I explained to him the issue with spitzer-pointed bullets and primers in a tube fed magazine. He then proceded to ask about loading .308 spitzer-pointed bullets in his 30-30 if used like a single shot. I didn't have an answer for him. It sounds like it should work but I just don't know. Would love to hear I someone has tried this before.
Thanks,
.308

Back when I had a 30-30 barrel for my contender I loaded alot of spitzers. Then you have the H&R's, savage lever actions, even a few Savage bolt actions out there. 30-30 can be a very effective round out of those platforms with spitzers. Not that it's any slouch with flat points.

are hundreds of guys who hunt with spitzer or BTHP in the chamber, and round-noses in the magazine.
I used to, now hunt with an M39.

I have loaded lots of spire points for MY LEVER ACTIONS. They are great loads.
I would never recommend that anyone load them for someone else. There is just too much liability if your friend screws up. Guess who the grieving widow and/or relatives attorney is going to come after po$t ha$te.

Thanks for the input guy. I really doubt I will load any. I was just curios about it more than anything.
