Not much turned up in the search.

I have an opportunity to trade my Kimber Ultra CDP II for a Uzi model B in 45.
It comes with 1 16 round mag.
This is an IMI Uzi not a Cobray or Vector

I have seen the mags for around $100 a piece :what:
The search come up with a conversion kit for Grease gun mags. Price is in the $260.00 range.

I understand converting it to 9mm is fairly easy. What is the approximate cost of this?

I thought this would be a fun gun to SBR and suppress. But my CLEO doesnt sign off on that unless you are LEO.

If I can get someone to sign off on SBR, is the gun the SBR or the barrel? Meaning, if in SBR configuration, can I swap calibers?

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

While I am no expert, you can do a search on here and see that you can form a Trust or LLC that will own NFA firearms. Going this route, you do not require a CLEO sign-off if it is legal in your state to have the firearm and have gone through the proper ATF procedures.

As for making the trade, I dunno. The Kimber is a nice firearm with a nice price tag. But so is an IMI .45 ACP Uzi. I personally would not get an Uzi unless I got it as a SBR-- but that is just me. I may be doing the same as you eventually. It's on my consideration list. .45ACP would be a nice caliber to have it in for its merits, but it will be more expensive to feed if you want to plink a lot. 9mm would be a fairly inexpensive shooter.

I don't know what your Kimber is worth, but that uzi in very good condition is worth around a grand. The 9mm conversion is probably around 200, but I don't know the exact number. All the conversion kits I see for sale are to 45acp. You may have to go through Vector Arms to get a 9mm bolt, and either they or others will have a barrel. Right now 9mm mags are cheap, in the 12-15 range for IMI 32 rounders.

If you do the SBR, you can go the trust route to get around your CLEO. And yes the gun is the SBR, double check to be sure as I don't have an SBR uzi, but I don't believe it is a problem at all to switch calibers on an SBR uzi.

Uzi's are great. I went the GG lower because of the cost of regular mags. Its a good option anyway because the IMI 45acp mags only hold 16 rounds while the GG mags hold 30, and brand new GG mags are about 25 bucks. A rumor is going around that the original tooling is going to be used to make more GG mags, and in volume they are rumored to be in the 10-15 dollar range.

While the 9mm is about 30 percent cheaper to shoot, it really does not have the fun of the 45acp. I have both and I usually only shoot the 45 model.

Personally I love the uzi. Name another pistol round carbine that has a stock that folds down out of the way, and it is built like a tank. If you like general shooting, and particuarly with the SBR and suppressor option, its hard to beat.

Conversion parts consist of Bolt, Barrel and Mag right????
Also can I get a registered full auto bolt? Or is it the receiver?

My Kimber goes for $1200+tax at Gander Mt and $1100ish on gunbroker.
It wears custom diamondback snake skin grips.

Pics of it can be seen on www.southeasttexas.com/classifieds under classifieds, firearms. Title of ad is Kimber and Ruger for sale.

An Uzi in 22 LR is a blast , especially in full auto. The 45 is nice but I favor the 9mm for ammo capacity.... heck in any cal Uzi's are blast.... and in FA...
mo' fun...

The .45 sounds like fun, but with the grease gun mags. I have seen 16 round .45 Uzi mags go for as much as $300+ a piece on Gunbroker in recent months. At the same time, an outfit named Keep Shooting (http://www.keepshooting.com/firearmaccessories/magazines/usgim3mag.htm) says they will be producing new grease gun mags for $19.95.

Mot45acp,

Do it. Kimbers are a dime a dozen, besides.... you could sell the one magazine you get with it and almost pay for a grease gun lower. Get yourself a 9mm bolt & barrel, some 9m uzi mags and some grease gun mags and you are set to shoot both calibers.

If you need more info about the uzi, check out uzitalk.com

The gun is the SBR, switching calibers is irrelevant. It's be like changing the upper out on an AR.

OK what about going FA? Can I just get a NFA registered bolt? Or does the gun come into play?

You have to understand that no more UZI receivers are allowed into the country.

The only ones that are already here will be available. Eventually, they'll all be sold with no more to be had unless someone sells one. Then the price will be a lot more.

I'd get it, keep the .45 parts and convert it into 9mm. I'd stay with the semi version. Less the government knows, the better.

More info on Uzi in question:
3 digit serial # (00XXX) Does this have any significance?
9mm barrel and 2 9mm mags but no bolt.
