How many of you have had rimlock in your 32acp pistols? I have just purchased a P 32 I hear that they are bad about rimlock when firing HP ammo.I have had no problems yet.
And, Do all 32 acp have rimlock problems?

I have a p-32 and after 200 rounds of JHP no rimlock and I though it was all a bunch of internet hype. Well, at 210 rounds or so I got RIMLOCK. What a pain in the butt it was to get the round out.
I'm not sure if all .32 acp guns have this problem but the P-32 sure does. I think it all depends on the magazine and the design.
Go over to the keltec forums and there is a fix for this, or perhaps flyer (another member) will post it here for you.
There is a school of thought that you should use ball ammo for penetration, thats what I do (no flames please  )
Hope this helps.

any semiauto mag fed .32acp that can accecpt FMJ's has the possiblility to rim lock!! true it may never happen, but I would bet that I could make one happen if you gave me the mag and a few hp's....
first understand rimlock:

then decide if you want to carry FMJ or HP's:

then (if you think you want to try HP's) you can do something about it:

I've owned Walthers, Brownings, Llamas, Bersas and Kel-Tecs in .32 ACP and haven't had any problems with JHP ammo from any of them.
I suppose the so-called rim-lock is theoretically possible, but it has not been an issue for me.
Its never been an issue for me with JHPs in the .38 Super (also theoretically possible as a semi-rimmed cartridge), either.

I have a P32 and have experienced rimlock with some hollowpoints. It happened within 20 rounds of Speer Gold Dot and Fiocchi SJHP - I also had a failure to chamber with the Fiocchi. In 250 rounds of silvertips, it has not happened. If you look closely at the rim of the silvertips and the others you will see a more bevelled edge on the silvertips. The rim of the Gold Dots is squared off and the Fiocchi's was uneven and oddly tapered.
I carry a +1 mag of silvertips in the pistol and a backup mag of FMJ. The +1 mag is longer on the bottom and easy to rip out of the gun if you get rimlock. I personally did not want to modify magazines to only fire hollowpoints, regarding the flyer-wire thing.

Although it is posible on any 32 gun I have only heard about it happening with the P-32.
It may have as much to do with the magazine profile as the bullet length.
The P-32 has a rather square magazine when compared to other 32's allowing more movement.

true, a rounded front edge of the mag would help prevent rimlock, but it would vary on the specific mag and hp shape as to weather it CAN happen or not.
And the flyer wire does not permanatly change the mag to HP only, it can be quickly removed and use FMJ's again.

Never had rimlock trouble with my Colt 1903, but I've never used JHPs in it either...
