Skunk, don't you mean Australian? :D

The FALfile guys really like the Australian stuff. I got an 800 rd case from Dan's ammo. Looks good, but didn't fire any yet. Comes in nifty ammo cans, bandos and stripper clips.

OK, I dug a round out of the case and did a magnet test for ya. Not steel core, steel jacket, steel case or steel anything.

How 'bout another shrimp on a barbie?? Are those your skis? Both of them? Well, this stuff's from the land of the veggimite sandwich. If you find any good deals on ammo from the land of snow and chocolate you let us know, ya hear?

John Denver's full of :cuss:!!!

So you're saying I have a chance....:neener:

You know what's pathetic? I have break lights, a month of water, a banjo, tactical Barbies and enough ammunition to stand a siege, but I don't have a :cuss: magnet!!

Have you checked the front of the fridge?

Surely you have an amplifier, or other exposed speaker...?

Skunk,

I hereby demote you from tactical banjo player to merely banjo player. Anyone without a magnet CAN'T be fully qualified.

Believe it or not, I carry two NdFeB magnets wherever I go...

...along with a Spyderco worker, fine & coarse diamond hones, a flashlight,a swiss army classic (scissors, blade, fingernail file, tweezers, toothpick), an SOG paratool (pliers, serated blade, plain blade, saw, file, small&large flatbit, phillips bit, awl, ruler), a Screwzall (large&small flatbit & phillips), a modified feeler gauge ;) , a modified allen wrench ;) ;) ,a pen, a pair of fingernail clippers, an extra large Cold Steel Voyager Tanto point, a comb, and, whenever legal, a stainless .380 Walther PPK & a spare clip.

If I can't handle it with what's on me, it's definitely a serious problem!

So are we talking about the Aussie surplus or the Austrian Hirtenbirger surplus? I don't have any experience with the round from Down Unda, but I've used the Hirtenberger with good results. Very nice ammo.

Is this a decent price?

I can't say how good it is, but for $250.00/1000($50.00/200 X 5= $250), it better be the best damn stuff around. :neener: And that can sure looks like the cans that the Ozzie stuff is packed in. See Dan's Sporting Goods(? I think)for better pricing. He's listed over on the www.FALFILES.com BB. ;)

I prefer not to mail order, the stuff weighs too much.

Skunk, save a little of that money and invest in a good atlas. Australia is a continent. Austria a country. Austria is in Europe. Australia is in the Pacific. They do not say "g'day" in Austria. The say "guten tag" or something like that. Austria is more about roast boar than barbequed shrimp. And how did John Denver come up in this?? The line about "veggimite sandwich" is out of a "Men At Work" song.

Since when do you work for UPS? :p

$50 for 200 rounds is pretty lame, even with the ammo can. I paid $175 for a thousand rounds in battlepacks at a show a couple years ago. Cans are cheap and easy to come by.

Dan's ran out of the Aussie, but is supposed to be getting more soon enough.

South African is good stuff, too. $147 delivered from www.aimsurplus.com . I got mine. :)

EDIT: AIM must be running low on the SA. Shipping is no longer included. :(

AC got it.

It's from Dumb & Dumber. Jim Carrey pulls up to a girl, and ask her where she's from.
"Austria."
"Austria..hmm..... G'day mate! How about another shrimp on the barbie?!"

...

Him and his buddy are going to Aspen Colorado. One of them makes the wrong turn, and they end up in Nebraska. The other one wakes up, looks around and says, "John Denver's full of :cuss:", reference Rocky Mountain High. :D

...

I have 800 rds of Portugese surplus, but it has traces of steel in it and the magnet picks it up.

What is wierd is the typo is in the ad, not Skunkabilly's post. The F4 ammo on bandoliers is Australian surplus. Reputed to be good stuff.

The Australian F4 is what I have. The ad is correct in all respects except for the part about being made in Austria. :D

I believe Skunk needs stuff that is not steel core due to range Nazi limitations. That unfortunately rules out the excellent SA and Port ammo.

What about Hirt though? Is that steel core or jacket?

I gotta admit the John Denver thing confused me too. I just blew it off as an eccentricity. :p

Steel core? The SA I ordered from AIM is magnet proof.

The Hirt I have sticks, but I think it's a bimetal jacket, not steel core.

I sectioned an Austrian bullet. Not steel core.

You know what, you're right. I looked at the can, and it says 'Australian', not 'Austrian' like the ad said.

Heck if I know, maybe there's some Austrian stuff out there too
