Buck 703 has been my favorite for the last couple of decades. 307 before that and Case stockman's before that.

Three blade stockmans are handy for several reasons one is you can sharpen the blades differently, have one for rough chores, even stripping wire and the other two with a much finer edge and kept very sharp. This has been my choice for a long time now. Doubt I will change anytime soon.

Always a Swiss Army Knife Classic.
http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?PriceEnd=&order=Default&CatalogName=&range=21&list=10&Feature=&Cat=92&SearchText=classic&Submit.y=0&Mode=Cat&Submit.x=0&PriceStart=&Brand=&SKU=V53181

Preferred daily carry along with the SAK classic is a Case Barehead Trapper with Yellow Handle and Chrome Vanadium Blades:
http://www.vintageknives.com/tek9.asp?pg=products&specific=jmqrgmorq
http://www.vintageknives.com/morepics.asp?prodid=2286

That said, I also take turns with a Swiss Army Bantam :
http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?range=31&Mode=Cat&Cat=92&SKU=V53941

Or Pocket Pal :
http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?Mode=Cat&Brand=&CatalogName=&PriceStart=&PriceEnd=&Feature=&Cat=92&SearchText=pocket+pal&Submit.x=16&Submit.y=17&list=10&range=41&order=Default&SKU=V53281

Barehead Trapper and I go way way back.

Pocket Pal and Bantam was tested for a niche, for folks that could not carry a knife due to
blade length restrictions, and NO locking blades.

These work, fit a price point, and also make great office and vehicle knives as something to have handy ,or loan out .

Personally I always carry a Gerber Evo(and sometimes a second on a necklace) and a Gerber Mini Paraframe. When in bad neigborhoods this goes in my left boot.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa81/T3hK1w1/DSC00569.jpg
Not sure what make it is, dad bought it in the 70's. It is marked "Explorer MM-V" on one side and "Made in Japan" on the other.

Of course, if I could carry any knife I wanted this would be on my belt for the sheer coolness factor, even though it is impractical for most things.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa81/T3hK1w1/DSC00515.jpg
The two smaller knives are eating knives that piggyback in the sheath, and the shell is a .270 winchester round used for comparison.

My father brought this back from Pakistan. It is handmade, blade is 8", OAL is 13 3/4", it is VERY sharp. Blade is 3/8" thick along the spine, narrowing toward the point. (It actually says "Gurkha Army", there is a scratch that makes the "U" look like an "O")
Sorry for the gratituous knife pics. :p

I carry my Buck Hartsook neck knife everyday. Along with that, I carry at least 2 folders. I rotate between...

Spyderco Endura 4 Wave
Spyderco Native
Benchmade Griptilian
Benchmade Skirmish
Benchmade Stryker Auto
Boker Trance
Boker Subcom F (desert tan PS)
CRKT M16 (lasermax on blade)

I'll carry various folders as needed on my strong side (CRKT M-16, Blackhawk, etc). I always have my HideAway (titanium, straight HAK) usually on my weak side for weapon retention. It's comfortable on the neck too for deep cover. Never leave home without that one.

I always carry a Vic Classic on my keyring.

Right now, I'm carrying a Benchmade Pika clipped to my pocket. Sometimes I'll carry one of my other knives.

I usually will keep a multi-tool in my jacket pocket or in the mag pocket if I'm wearing 511 pants or shorts. That used to be a PST, but know it is a Sog Powerlock.

I really like carrying SAKs. Usually a Vic Spartan or Wenger Standard Issue.

Traditional folders are also nice.

One of these:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/rbmcmjr/edcs-1.jpg

Top to bottom:

S&M Deluxe English Jack
Queen Canoe (1095)
Benchmade Automite
Jeff Cover
Hiroaki Ohta single-blade hunter
Rick Nowland Wharncliff Copperhead
Rick Nowland Sowbelly

Most of the time at work, it is the Ohta, but the Nowlands get some quality time too. If I'm clunking around, it is usually the Benchmade or the S&M.

S&W HRT boot knife in the boot (duh) since I wear combat boots to work. Coolest $20 (I think) I've ever spent - this thing is sharp and strong. Get one if you can!

Mini survival tool w/knife, mirror, lense, scissors, stone, file, screwdriver, canopener, and bottlecap opener from the Nature Store in the malls, I believe. An unforgettable gift from a forgettable girlfriend.

Benchmade auto sometimes in uniform at work, sometimes out of work. Usually a S&W HRT folder in civvies or a Buck, can't remember the model.

darn you sm- now you've made me want a Case

How are you fixed on 28 gauge Shotguns? :D

I grew up with Chrome Vanadium blades on Case knives.
Oh there were other brands, like Cammilus, Old Timer, and even some custom carbon steel knives , still, Case is just part of my growing up.

My role in life includes:

-"Blame Steve" - so get a Case CV and blame me.
-giving hso fits about Pocket Knives/ Slip-joints,
-keeping it simple, real, practical, and being a minimalist.

hso's reply ought to be good...;)

Old Hickory Paring knife is pretty simple.
1095 carbon steel, wood, rivet...

Word is [tm] these things are not expensive, pretty sure they will not fold on one's fingers....something that "seems" to tickle the daylights out of Health & Safety Officers...

jump...jump...jump "Crown Me"

:)

Valkman! Get in her ! You got your wife to start making leather sheaths for these Old Hickory's yet?

Not that I don't do a reeeeal nice job using index cards...;)

I like the groovy leverage action. Not a great fighting knife, but that's ok since I don't know much about knife combat.

My preference is easily sharpened plain and relatively straight edges

Exactly the preference I've settled in on. And, I like it light, with a good thin blade (see "easily sharpened"). So, I've taken to carrying this Leek:

http://www.kershawknives.com/productdetails.php?id=64

3 oz., flat pocket profile, 3" Sandvick 13c26 blade.

If I want something sturdier and am willing to carry a bit more to get it, a fullsize Griptillian, also plain-edge.

Less than $20, 420HC blade, poly handle, locking back, comes in multiple sizes.

The one above was just recently retired for the largest model Buck offers. he he. Looks the same, but the blade is about .5" longer and larger handle fits my hand better.

The one thing that I absolutely love about these knives? The lock back. I HATE liner locks.

I carry a Vi SAK Champ in a holster on my belt with a small miniMag AAA lite. In my pocket sometimes, I'll carry a Spyderco that I picked up at WalMArt a few months ago. Other times, I carry either an Old Timer 3 blade or the equivalent Uncle Henry. I always have the SAK with me no matter where I go. It'll do any job I need it to, no questions asked.
