i have two sigs, a p220 st and a brand new p220 carry elite. my stainless sig looks as new as it did when it was NIB but the nitron finish on my elite sucks. i was told by the dealer that a couple coats of oil will bring the life back. he failed to tell me that once i holstered it that it would disappear. i've called sig twice now and all the customer-no service agent said was "o.k."

i love my sig guns but a big :barf: on the nitron finish
as for the customer-no service:cuss: .l..

any ideas on how to keep this finish new looking???

I've had nothing but great experiences with Sig CS, but I've heard stories like this before.

They just said "O.K" Not we'll fix it or we won't, it's not a problem? Did you get the person's name?

i got the managers name and number who will be out until next wednesday. the gun shoots great and since there is no defect or anything else mechanical he said there isn't anything he can do. they don't sell new slides so i can't buy the stainless. i can have it bead blasted but that would most likely void the warrenty.

Are you really asking why your no-longer-new gun doesn't look new anymore?

Nitron is to deter rust, corrosion and protect against scratching. It is not supposed to be shiny but is matte. Combat handguns are not meant to be shiny, they are meant to be dull and matte so you don't get glare when firing it and so your enemies don't see you.

I doubt Sig customer service owes you anything.

If you want yours to be shiny, then I'd suggest an application of paste wax and some buffing time with a soft cloth.

I'm not looking for shinny...I'm looking for something that doesn't look 10 years old and worn. Isn't stainless steel what's underneith the finish anyways? Isn't stainless steel pretty corision resistent? I'm not military so I don't have to worry about giving off my position. And scratching, there is a small scratch running across the slide about an inch back from the front sight.
