I'm sure this one will be pretty easy for you historians but it's not got enough writing on it for me to figure it out.

Is it one of those "fields"? Like a Springfield or an Enfield?

I got it in a package deal.

I'm not too good on early military rifles.

Thanks for your help.

Looks like a very early Nagant. Couldn't tell you the exact model, but I'm sure someone here can.

EDIT: Alright, it looks like a Finnish Civil Guard rifle model of 1924. So, a Finnish Mosin-Nagant.

A picture of the marking on top of the rifle above the receiver will help narrow it down quite a bit, but I think Mikhail is correct.

Call it a field-ski rifle maybe?

Thanks for all the help. Here's a photo of the receiver markings. I hope it's good enough to give you an idea of what we're looking for.

As Mikhail Konovalov said, this is a Finnish-made Mosin-Nagant; the "VKT" on the receiver shows it was made by Valtion Kivaari Tehdas (they eventually became Valmet), and it was produced in 1941. The Finns had at least 4 different versions of this rifle, and they had different sights, barrel lengths, wood, etc., but yours looks like either an 1891 or a 1939 pattern (they stopped producing the 1927 model in the 1930s).
