So I'm messing around with some SCSI parts, trying to make sure my controller works with an old drive prior to a newer one coming.

Cool.

Go to the Adaptec page to download drivers for a 2940 series controller, and it comes up with this huge long "license agreement" page:

http://www.adaptec.com/cgi-bin/license-agree.pl

...part of which reads as follows:

-----------
EXPORT COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS

Export of any information from the Adaptec web site (including Confidential Information obtained through Adaptec Access) outside of the United States is subject to all U.S. export control laws. You will abide by such laws and also to the provision of the U.S. Export-Re-export Requirements and Enhanced Proliferation Control Initiative set forth here. You and your organization will not sell, license, or otherwise provide or ship Adaptec products or technical data (or the direct product thereof) for export or re-export to the embargoed or restricted* countries listed below:

Afghanistan (Taliban controlled area), Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea*, Sudan, and Syria*
-----------

Now...what's wrong with this picture? I mean, ya, we ain't quite caught Osama Yo Mama but...IS there a "Taliban controlled area" any more?

:D

If you looked at a block-by-block map, there's probably some taliban controlled areas that havent been bombed or shot up. Same thing with Iraq being declared liberated but the SCSI parts cant be exported there either.
