Lets see your wrap around rifle camo

August 19, 2007, 03:23 PM
Hopefully we'll see some AR's and AK's among this thread, but looking to see all your wrap-around camo setups. Whether its cutting up a potatoe sack into strips and wrapping it around your rifle to blend it in with the field, or if you've taken branches and twigs and taped them to your rifle.
Lets see em,

Would love to know what you guys use, I was really thinking of the potatoe sack idea as I can't think of anything else.

Anyways, post em up

I had my Benelli M1-S90 in camo tape, but I took it off since last season.

Im currently on the hunt for tater or rice sacks. I had planned on using burlap from balled and burlaped trees (my mom works at a landscaping/nursury/greenhouse). But, upon seeing the condition of one, i changed my mind. Unless i happed to come across some in decent shape, then maybe...after a few wash down with a hose of course. So now im down to tater and rice sacks. I prefer the darker, more weathered look...not the new stuff you can get at a crafts store. But until then, i cant contribute..:o.

Comon people, no one has a camo set up!? :D

i dont have pics, but i did make a camo "ghillie" type wrap for my paintball gun (i'm a sniper when we play lol) that i was gonna use for archery hunting as well as perhaps turkey hunting.

i got a long black string like a shoe lace or something, and got some camo blind material from a sportshop. i cut the blind material into thin long strips and tied them to the string (1/2inch by about 7-9inch). if you do alot of them which does take some time to get a nice length of string, you can wrap it around your guns/bow/whatever and have a basic "leafy wear" like camoflauge.

Go to your local hunting stores. They will usually have camo burlap for making a blind. Just wash it a few times and it will softem up a lil and give that worn look.

I wouldlike to see some pics too. Deer deason is just round the corner and I want some ideas.

One more thing....You can look at the feed stores too. Many of them will have the burlap bags too

Hmm, never thought of feed stores. Thats sad, considering i live in horse country and theres a feed store in just about every town in the area. Thanks for the idea though.

heres my paintgun that looks sorta assault rifle-ish lol its got a scope mount for my red dot or scope if i want, and a front grip i've made with attachments for twin maglight lightbar lol. i never need that but it looks nice

you can see how i have strips attached to a shoelace and just wrapped it around the gun, you can do it various ways. the camo on the gun is just camo soft cloth/cotton tape

Orr, thats a great idea, never thought of that. Keep the ideas, and hopefully some pics, of other techniques coming!

yeah i like it, its cheap and easy to do...just takes alittle time gettin all the strips tied on, but its quick to add on and take off and does a fine job of concealment, as any of my fellow paintballers will tell you :)

Some African fella did this one.

The burlap and weeds didn't make the trip from the continent.

It's not wrap camo.... but it works.

August 20, 2007, 02:30 AM
Something I made in 5 mins. And it worked that time.

It's not a weed whacker!!! LOL.

Not bad in 5 minutes. A quick thinker you are.

What I also did was to tie some bunches of grass on that rifle with grass - used straws as a string, it concealed the gun pretty well, seen from the front - gave it a pretty irregular shape. I tied this to the barrel and forend, mostly - semiauto action, ya know (charging handle running around, cases flying, controls that need to be used etc).

The grass dries fast, though, especially when it's hot, so it must me updated pretty regulary. The use of sunshade also helped to keep the glint of scope glass suppressed

Ya know, I didn't do it to hide myself from a duck or elk. With that camoed rifle and myself (only a painted face&regular utilities, no ghillie orwhatsoever) I managed to be unseen by 3 trained observers on high ground and with 20-60x spotting scope + binos (I saw them pretty well, on the other hand), at the range of 180m. I was in the shadows at the side of the bush, in sitting position, the walker held his hand over my head and the over the muzzle - observers noted that they did saw the hand, but nothing below it :evil:

Rifle itself is OK, I have no problem keeping M80 NATO ball inside human torso at 600m, or head in 300m, and I'm an amateur.
