I was looking at one of these flat little pistols in a gun shop that's close to my house and it did look nice.
Something, which I can't quite put my finger on is different from the "Interarms" model. Anybody have one yet. Pretty reliable???

Thanks,
KR
P.S. If you know what the difference is, I'd be obliged if you's post it.

The rear receiver tang on the S&W is longer, but I'm not sure that it does much to prevent the slide from rubbing against the web of the shooting hand. It will certainly help with hammer bite.

Other differences were the quality of the markings. S&W uses the laser engraving which looks cheap to me vs the rollmarks of the Interarms.

My wife's PPK/S was fairly reliable, but she had trouble manually chambering a round. As a result, I ended up with the PPK/S (S&W) and she got a Kahr K40. The PPK/S was an OK summer carry gun, but when I had a chance at a used Para 6.45 LDA I jumped, and my summer carry gun became the Para. Seven rounds of .45 beats 7 rounds of .380, and the size was almost identical under my shirt. I later traded the PPK/S off to knock the price down on a Gold Cup. I did this with no regrets. $500 can buy a good pistol. The PPK/S is (in my opinion) heavy for what it is, and underpowered for it's size. It does conceal well though. We had to do a lot of radiusing to get rid of the Walther bite. I personally would not buy another one unless it was a great deal, and i mean under $300. I didn't want to buy the one we had, but I followed my #1 rule of buying a weapon for the woman in your life. That is get her what she wants and let her learn for herself.

The PPK/S is very concealable.
Our PPK/S was accurate.
Our PPK/S was reliable.
Our PPK/S bit until it was radiused.
The .380 is a marginal defense caliber.
Other .380s are a lot lighter.
You can find a good pistol in a .40 or .45 that is the same size and weight.

Cheapest I've seen a new S&W made PPK/S was $425. Coincidentally, right next to it was a used Interarms made gun..........for $450 :what: :what:

$425 for the new S&W version is a very good price. They're about $100 more around here.
