... that doesn't require drill and tap?

It appears that you can get away with just 3 attachment points instead of 4. Anyone done this? - (not my pistol)

Kinda sloppy with the mod for sure, but ... You get to keep the ambi safety this way. :)

Seems to me if it needs strength - a drill and tap just forward of the slide stop looks like the place for it.

I think your idea may work, but only 2 points work fine on my NPC mount.

I did have to add small rubber "O" rings to the grip screws, or I had to keep tightening them every 100 round or so.

Good Luck...

Thanks Joe,

NPC go out of business? They aren't at Brownell's or Google.

Did you try using blue or red Loctite on your grip panel screws?

Joe,

Inspired by the pic of your 45 with the NPC mount, I heavily modded a new AimTech tonight.

Using just the two grip screws and I cut off a 1/2 pound of aluminum.

The TruGlow has a strange looking blob for a dot, but I guess it's OK. :scrutiny:

I bought my NPC mounts through Brownells almost 4 years ago, but they no longer carry them.

I did initially try a bit of Loc-Tite, but the grip screw bushings on my SW1911 were also installed with Loc-Tite, rather than being staked. The bushing would unscrew about half the time when I took the screws out. The old Bullseye shooter trick of using tiny "O" rings seems to work well.

Looks like your modification went well. Nice clean job.

I had problems with compatibility using the stock thumb safety also, but on the other side. I solved mine by swapping out the extended safety for a stock GI version.
