I've checked the Hevi-Shot and the Remington web site and I'm not seeing what the difference between the Remington Hevi-Shot and the Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote is supposed to be. Both are available in '00' Buck. Does anyone know?

It's touted to use "T" shot with a "killing pattern" out to seventy yards. They carry 50 pellets which are .20 caliber, so probably like hitting the coyote with a .22 caliber rotary cannon. Lots of folks seem to like the stuff.

On the Dead Coyote .PDF on their website, it lists "T-Shot" under pellet size for a 3" and a 3 1/2" shell, but for the 2 3/4" Buckshot shell it lists "00B" for the pellet size. Does this mean it uses 00B-sized T-shaped pellets then? I don't see how they could have 50 .20 caliber pellets and still call it 00 Buck...

I thought the largest Hevi-Shot bird pellet was B = .17" and the H-S Dead Coyote was the slightly larger T = .20". IIRC, the Dead Coyote uses a different wad to give 100% patterns at 40 yards.
I just looked at the .pdf data sheet on the H-S site and didn't see any buckshot loads, just 2, 4 and B for waterfowl and then Dead Coyote.

Look at page 2, fourth one down on the table, "12-gauge, 2 3/4" 00B"
I've found Dead Coyote 00 Buckshot on MidwayUSA (the only place so far) and Remington Hevi-Shot 00 Buckshot on CheaperThanDirt.com and AbleAmmo.com.

Okay, I hadn't looked at the Dead Coyote .pdf, only the blurb on the site.
I still don't see OO Buck in the regular loads, just 2, 4 and B. If somebody is selling discontinued buckshot loads I'd guess it's loaded with different wads and patterns differently, more open, than the D-Coyote.

The regular Hevi-Shot I saw was under the Remington name "Remington Hevi-Shot", but I don't see it on Remington's web site so you're right it's probably discontinued.

The makers of Hevi shot and Remington have gone separate ways. Enviro- Metal, I think is the maker and has its own line of shells now.
If they match the performance of the Remington loads, they're keepers.
