The local Big5s here have what they call a Norinco 1883. They look like 1897s to me though. I checked one out close up and can't find any markings denoting if it was a 1897 or an 1893 other than the paper tag.
Does anyone know anything about them? Are they just renamed 1897s or are they the black powder shell only 1893s?
