The SECOND on the FOURTH!

On this day celebrating the Declaration of Independence and freedom from tyranny, it seems appropriate to me to talk about one of those most important freedoms: the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Now I know liberals have trouble understanding words. You all remember one famous liberal saying "depends on what your definition of "is" is"! Well, there is another word they have trouble understanding: "people". You and I KNOW who "the people" are but let me remind you of this.

The phrase "the people" appears in AT LEAST:
The Declaration of Independence
The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America
The First Ammendment to the Constitution
The Second Ammendment to the Constitution
The Fourth Ammendment to the Constitution
The Nineth Ammendment to the Constitution
The Tenth Ammendment to the Constitution

I believe the phrase "the people" means 'the people' in each and every one of those instances and does not mean 'the militia' in the second ammendment or it would mean 'the militia' in all the above instances.

Simple for us to figure out, but liberals seem to have a problem understanding that. Wonder why that is so!!??

Happy 4th to you all!

There are none so blind as those that will not see.

The problem is not of what the amendment says. The problem is of what it means. Does "keep and bear arms" have a military connotation only? Does it mean to bear arms only for defense against invaders? Or does it mean all forms of self defense...against invaders and against criminals and attacking bears?

The first clause of the amendment gives is a decidedly military slant, as is the reason it exist in the first place. That's why trying to use the 2nd to prove you have a right to carry a handgun for personal protection will always fail.

Even Madison's original version was decidedly military in nature:

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country; but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."
