I know a little about airguns but not about the competitions. Register and drop a post to the folks over here and they will definitely be able to help you out.

You might check with the NRA. Their website is http://www.nra.org/. Check under their competitions section. There should be something on air pistol/air rifle matches.

International air pistol matches are 60 shots and require an air pistol in .177 caliber. I belive the air rifle matches are the same number of shots, same caliber.

Also try contacting your local gun ranges and the CMP. The CMP used to run a nation-wide "Postal" match for air rifle which was pretty nifty - but I believe it was oriented more toward youth shooting.

My previous gun club in FLA ran a air rifle program for the youth, so local gun clubs could be a good source of info - even if they don't have a "Program" they probably have members who might be willing to work with you.

Depending on your age, you might could get involved thru 4-H as well, my son shot in their Nationals back in 2004.
