CZ or Taurus 40SW

I'm about to purchase a 40SW and had been leaning toward a CZ75B but also considering the Taurus PT100 or 100SS. Does anybody have a "learned opinion" about either? Is there a benefit of the slide-over-barrel (CZ) vs. the exposed barrel of the Taurus? Is one rated higher in terms of pressure rating? Although I reload I'm not one of those "let's impress the boys" types so I'm not inclined to push the limits.

I currently own a Beretta 92FS in 9mm as well as a .380 and .357 Mag all of which are used for target shooting. (For personal defense I prefer a nine iron!).

And don't try to sell me on Glock or Sig or 1911's...I know you're out there....

Tough choice, I like them both. If you prefer cocked and locked I'd go with the CZ, but if you fancy DA/SA (I don't) the Taurus has a decocker for DA/SA operation in addition to the cocked and locked option. With the CZ if you want DA/SA you have to manually decock a hot chamber.

If you want a rail advantage Taurus, if you think rails are goofy advantage CZ 75B. I regret not getting my PT-100 before they added the rail, I got the CZ75 first and by time I got around to getting a PT-100 the rails had appeared :(.

Based on pure, personal experience alone I consider the CZ to be of significantly higher quality than the Taurus. FWIW it is CZ all the way.

For what it's worth, I am a believer in the quality of the new Tauruses. I have purchased, in the last month, a 24/7 and an airweight revolver, and have had zero (0) issues with both of them to date. And I'm about 1K into the 24/7, and 400 into the revolver.

I would go CZ as well based on the way it fits my hand and the reputation each brand has. I have never fired either however :P

I like taurus just fine but you are not comparing apples to oranges even. It is more like you are comparing apples to fuzzy dried up raisins found under the seat cushions.

Thanks guys....depending on how you score it it's either 9-2 or 9-1 in favor of CZ (I'm not a polymer frame devotee...yet).
Apples to dried up raisins......hmmmmmm. I hadn't looked at it quite that way so maybe it's 10-1.
I know Taurus is considered sort of a quality "sleeper" but I've also come across more issues with Taurus in several forums than I have with CZ. Maybe my next will be a Taurus .45 but for now I'm going with CZ.

I needed a 40S&W because a friend gave me a bunch of 40 brass.

I ran across the CZ 40P at the gun show and I thought the price was low, $320. I thought how bad can a CZ be.

It's a good gun.:)
(I need to find some flush magazines though. I don't like these.)

The Taurus.beretta design is very proven. I carried a issued 92F for a few years.

My only complaint was that the 92 was much wider in the grip than my CZs.
The CZ points better for me and has softer recoil. Reliability in both pistols
was superb.

CZ for me, but not everyone will agree.

I'd go with the CZ. Better reliability IMO.

I guess the CZ lovers are out more today then the Taurus lovers, I would vote for the Taurus because I feel it is made better, more reliable, more dependable, and for me shoots to point of aim much better,

Give this thread a week or 2 and it would most likely end up about 50/50. Get the one you feel fits you better

Whichever fits your hand best and points the most naturally for you. It'll be more enjoyable that way.

I own a CZ-75B in .40S&W and I love it. It's absolutely reliable, feeds ANYTHING, and accurately punches out the center ring at defensive distances. If you're looking to sweeten the pistol up you can send it to Mr. Eagleshield at CZUSA for a trigger job.

I like my CZ 75 Compact in 40 S&W. Reliable and accurate but a little heavy but I like it being all steel.
