This Shotgun is used in Terminator 3. It looks similar to a Remington 870 with a military bayonet attachment. But the shotgun in the pictures has a unique sling attachment, an odd forearm, no bayonet lug and the heat shield looks like a factory Mossbergs.

Here is a picture of a military Remington 870 with bayonet attachment, for comparison sake.

It looks like an 870 with parts added to make it look meaner.

According to IMFDB, you are correct:

I help create pages at Imfdb.org, Terminator 3 is a page I have done alot of work on. I just wanted to be sure that the shotgun was a 870 as I have never seen a 870 that looks like the one used in the movie. If it is a 870 are the unique parts, factory or custom?

;)

I'm no expert, but I've been doing some research since I plan to buy an 870 soon. Remington doesn’t make one like that from the factory. Most of the parts (such as the barrel shroud and fore-end) are custom and readily available. I’ve never seen a fore-end exactly like that one, so it probably was scratch build for the movie.

My guess is Arnold's 870 was customized based on a police model like this one:

Note that movie prop rental houses do a lot of work on firearms.

These are the guns from Pale Rider:

Cartridge conversions of BP replicas were done by Stembridge Gun Rental in Glendale, CA. http://www.stembridge.us/2004/10/25/stembridge-gun-rental/ I'm presuming that the trigger conversion on the pocket revolver was custom, as well, as the replicas I know about look like this:

Other examples? The chrome Stars in Pulp Fiction, the guns of Firefly, etc.

This looks like an 870 that's been doctored up to have a look in keeping with the Terminator costume.
