(Hey. It's been a full ten minutes...:D )

Which would you prefer for a big-game rifle & why?

Thanks in advance...

I own a .45-70, I no longer own a .30-06 but still voted for it. Better multi-purpose round capable of taking all north american game.

.45-70 is fun though.:)

The '06 is the more suitable for the hunting that I do.

Were I meddling around bear country, or in generally close-range-shooting country, I might well go with the .45-70 and Garrett-type ammo.

Pah. 45-70

It's classic-er.

AND, while the 30-06 will take anything in North America, the .45-70 is plenty good enough for African stuff when stuffed in a double rifle or two. Lets see a .30-06 drill all the way through a Buffalo!

Disclaimer: I'm horribly biased for antiques, and I prefer to look throuugh the rose-colored glasses of historical context. :neener:

I own a Marlin .45-70 and don't currently own an '06, but feel strongly that we don't need much more that the latter for anything on this continent.

What the hey......????? The two most practical non-mangalum hunting calibers, and you ask us to choose between them? *#@*& that! I refuse to vote for either. I choose both or none at all. :D

I like the `06`s trajectory better.
