Surprisingly uncomfortable to shoot for just about everyone, but a solidly-built, reliable pistol for a good price.

my problem with it was the grips. so i got a slick pair of slimlines for it.

The magazines for mine wouldn't let me load hollowpoints. the tips of the JHPs were too wide and would hang up in the magazine. The gun had a nasty habit of fileting (sp) the web of my hand when I shot it. As Trueblue said it isn't the most comfortable gun to shoot. The Makarov or the CZ82 are better options, IMHO, if you want to burn up 9x18 ammo.

Wear gloves.. Other than that, it's a straight shooter. Some like it, some don't. It's easy enough to conceal, but as stated above, HP's can be temperamental. There are better choices, but rarely for the price.

Some folks just call them an FEG.

Tim, This is the PA-63

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FEG_PA-63

What is the going price for one of these? My local shop has one for 175.00 does that sound about right? i thought of buying one also.

I did read that the trigger pull on them is very heavy. But I think wolf springs has replacements to make it better.

Centerfire Systems has them for $99:

I shot a guys at the range...I didnt enjoy it as much as my mak. I think 9x18 in a blowback pistol is sharp (not bad, but not the push of a .45) but man that Pa-63 stings!

The 99 price tag looks good, However with the "fees" to ship my local price seems fair.

Where are Pachmayr grips for the PA-63 available?

let me just add, even with the sharp recoil I dont think you can go wrong for ~$140 (including S/H and transfer). I really like the caliber and the pistol seemed pretty solid. I would add a grip sleeve at a minimum.

The advice I read elsewhere is that, due to the aluminum frame, is that anything heavier than 95 grain bullets should be avoided.

Mine had a horribly heavy trigger. Wolff springs cured that and made it into a pretty good pistola.

I used to carry one of these before I could afford better. They're easily concealable, reliable, accurate, and cheap.

The recoil is manageable. I got used to it pretty quickly. The sights are miniscule, but a dab of white paint on the front sight took care of that.

Honestly, I'd recommend one to anyone who is tight on cash and needs a pistol now. Otherwise, it would be a better idea to save for one of the $200 CZ-82 pistols that are on the market now.

makarov.com does carry a number of accessories for them. As mxl wrote, new springs are mandatory, as are new grips if one is left-handed.

Edit: So it is, Hoffy. Thanks!

The one I fondled, years ago, had the worse trigger of any gun I had ever handled!! I mean that one made my stock PPK/S seem like it had just come from the Smith with a custom trigger job!!

Since I already had several true Makarovs, at the time, I decided to give it a pass despite the attractive price!! ;)

Claymore, get an UP-Lula. Great mag loader that works on almost all of them.

M&P Store (http://www.mp-store.com/index.php?cPath=28&osCsid=6dd093ab1018bc95026ba6f004d714d4)

Little over 30 bucks.
