Well, I finally got to shoot my Volquartsen THM CF Barrel with the 32 hole compensator. Here's a summary of my experiences. I also added the Volq cantilever barrel mount with Weaver 4X4 rings to replace my receiver mounted Leupold base and rings. The THM barrel, with a 16" barrel and about 2" of compensator for a total length of about 18" is considerably lighter than my original Green Mountain 18" SS barrel. The THM barrel was a tight fit in my receiver. I had to tap the receiver to get the barrel to seat properly. After that I just screwed on the cantilever mount, mounted the rings, and added the scope. I went out to shoot today. After I cleaned the barrel, I shot a couple of groups. I was worried at first as the groups were larger than what I was getting with my Green Mountain 18" SS fluted barrel, but I remembered that some barrels shoot better after fouling. As I shot it more, the groups tightened up. I had a couple of FTFs which I believe were due to the chamber being so tight. Out of 500 rnds, I may have had 5 or 6 FTFs. I noticed that my groups were tighter than what I was getting with the GM barrel. The compensator did seem to make the rifle a bit louder than the GM barrel. I did all my shooting from the bench. I'll be trying offhand later, but I wanted to see what the barrel was capable of. All shooting was done at 50yds with Winchester Dynapoints ($12.99 for 500 at Kmart). All the modifications were done by myself (if you can uses a screwdriver, you can do all the mods yourself). If you like to tinker and want to try to squeeze every bit of accuracy out of a 10/22 I believe the Volq THM barrels are one of the best ones out there.

This is my 10/22 with Volq TG2000, Leupold base and rings, Weaver Grand Slam 6-20X40mm, Bell and Carlson Anschutz stock, Green Mountain 18" stainless steel fluted barrel.

100 rounds fired at 100 yards out of my similar, but uncompensated barrel on an extremely windy day. Ammo was plain old Wichester Powerpoints. You can see how far some bullets got blown off course.
Or maybe I just suck.:D

What did you do with the Green Mountain barrel, once you replaced it with the Volquartsen Carbon Fiber version?

(Starting another FrankenRuger for my wife) ;)

Cuz those are some purty shooters pictured!
IME, the stock Ruger barrels with a modified match chamber regularly do sub-minute at 100yds
Call me Cheap but I don't see the need for a $200-400.00 barrel on a two-d-two other than gee whiz factor.

Gewehr,
Sold the GM Barrel to partially finance the THM Barrel.

IME, the stock Ruger barrels with a modified match chamber regularly do sub-minute at 100yds

Are you sure that's not 10yds? :D Every stock Ruger barrel I've seen has been mediocre at best.

Call me Cheap but I don't see the need for a $200-400.00 barrel on a two-d-two other than gee whiz factor. Need, NEED?!?!?! It's got nothing to do about need. :D It's the fun of putting something together yourself. Why do I do it? Because I can. :D
