I came across this site bullpacs.com. I was wondering if these are any good. Yea or nay let me know cause I'm looking for a pack frame without the pack bag part, just the frame for the Elk that I'm gonna get this year. Thanks, Jeff

ChefJeff- I owned one for about a year. It is really well made. The welding on the frame is impeccable. BullPac's customer service was also top notch. However, I could not live with the primitive suspension. There is a relatively unsophisticated waistbelt and two thickly padded shoulder straps that put entirely too much weight on the shoulders. Not matter what I tried, I could never get the weight to settle on my hips where it belonged.

I almost hate to say anything negative about the BullPac frame because the folks who make it are so kind and because their product really is well made. It's just that there are so many better ways to carry heavy weight today. You might want to look at Mystery Ranch's N.I.C.E. frame and the Granite Gear Flatbed. I own both. They are more expensive but they are also far more effective pack frames. Do keep in mind though that pack fit is an entirely individual matter. Just because the BP didn't work for me does not mean the same will be true for you.

I don't know if it's bad form to mention another forum here, but over at 24hourcampfire.com, there is a backpack hunting forum. Do a search. There are numerous BullPac threads. They have many supporters over there.

I really like my Bull -Pac . The model I have is the bigger size , I can't remember the name of the larger pack frame . I have used mine for packing out several deer and elk . I have found mine too be very comfortable , and the construction is great .

+1 for the bull pack,,,it fits me great and i have carried 100# on mine,, if you look at their web site i think they have an article about some guy carrying his pardner out on his back after his pardner broke his leg or something like that

i too have the larger frame and it fits me well,, they are great folks to deal with...although as stated above this pack may not be for everyone,,,,, that being said again the pack frame works well for me,, the weight settles on my hips and rides close and tight

if i ever wear this frame out i will be getting another one,,,i don't think that i can wear the thing out though it is really well made

my .02 YMMV
