I was at the range firing this C.A.I. Tok, and after about 5 mags it jams. The slide comes back about 3/8 inches and no more. I don't know if the round inside is the spent round or a live one.

The gun is not worth going to the gunsmith with it. Should I smack it with a hammer?

Put down the hammer, and get a cleaning rod. Run the rod down the bore and see how far it will go. If it goes almost to the end of the barrel you have a fired case in the chamber. If it goes almost but not quite, you have a loaded round.

If this doesn't detect anything, put a tight patch on the rod. Run it down the barrel and see if you detect a loose spot near the muzzle. If so, you have bulged the barrel, and that's why the slide won't move backwards.

Be careful not to get the patch jammed in the bore. You have enough trouble as it is.

First of all, ASSUME THE PISTOL IS LOADED UNTIL YOU CAN PROVE OTHERWISE; I'd use a pencil down the barrel to feel if there's a live round in the chamber, or just and empty case. It sounds like either the link, the slide-stop, or the pin holding the link to the barrel is broken; can you push the rear of the barrel down when you pull the slide back?

The back of the barrel doesn't move when I try to force it down on the slide retracted position of 3/8 inches back.

Thanks for the replies. I need all the help I can get:rolleyes:
