I just finished cleaning up my new to me Old Army after shooting for about an hour and a half. It is very accurate and really fun! :) I'm ready to buy another model, maybe a dragoon or something. BTW the old army is a 1973 manufactured and in really good shape.

Congratulations! I am glad that you are now a member of the ROA fanclub. Seriously, the Ruger is one of the finest BP revolvers available, especially in terms of accuracy and reliability. I am glad that you enjoyed your shooting session with it and I hope it brings you many more hours of joy.

Revolverman357 - you started at the top. I'm afraid that the standard you are now used to will be above the level of most everything else you buy. You will need to be a bit forgiving with your next purchase, unless you spend a great deal of money.

Actually I only paid $275 for the ROA. The person I bought it from is a co-worker and friend. He was the 2nd owner and he never got around to shooting it, so he passed a deal on to me. My next BP revolver may be a 36 caliber, still unsure about what model and make.

I recommend a Uberti 1851 Navy, although Pietta has been getting good marks for quality in the last couple of years, so if you buy a new gun Pietta would be a good choice also.

Another fine choice would be a Uberti 1861 Navy.

Revolverman 357, I'd recommend a Rogers and Spencer. While I like my ROA, the Rogers and Spencer fits my hand better. I think there is one for sale on Gunbroker now. Im glad to see you having fun with BP. Enjoy.

I just looked the Rogers and Spencer up on Gunbroker. IT CLOSES TOMORROW.. It has an extra Cylinder with it and the bid is under $200. at this time. There is no cylinder line on either cylinder. Looks good..
