What is a good 5 shot group from the 25yd using a 9mm, 2 hand grip, standing, open sights, factory ammo....

What is an average 5 shot group from same....

Also from the 10yd same deal...

depends on the gun and the person shooting. I'd say a 5 or 6 inch group is respectable with a snubby, but not on a 10" barreled pistol with a scope

I regularly get 3 inch groups from a Browning Hi Power at 25 yards using factory Rem or Federal with 123-124 grain bullets. The BHP seems to like that weight a bit better than 115 grain ammo. I attached a representative target. Using my own loads I can do much better on a good day.

-Great shooter and pistol sub 2". Rarely see this.
-Good shooter sub 4". Me and a couple other regulars at the range I attend.
-Average shooter 12"+. Most at the range.

I would say anything that you can cover with the palm of your hand. Put your hand on your chest...If you are aiming center mass and can hit a 5 shot group then you're killing anything you're aiming at. even if you're off by an inch or two move your hand over your shoulder...You're still doing lethal damage.

Also, how are you shooting? are you simulating a draw? slow target shooting? If you can hit the group I mentioned above simulating a draw by bringing the gun up frpm a rest in front of you or from a holster I'd say you're doing good. If however, you're using a slow targeting technique your groups should, could be tighter. I like the Dirty Bird Splatter Pattern targets. I shoot out the RED center @ 25 yards with consistency. Some flyers in the 9 & 8 ring.

To measure accuracy, offhand is a poor way to do it. Sit at a bench and put a few sandbags down to rest your wrists on. In that configuration my Witness makes one ragged hole you can cover with a fifty cent piece. My glock 21 will make a 2" group. My XD45 will go into a bit less than an inch and a half.

Thanks for the info guys, appreciated...

10X...I also shoot a BHP but I am using 115gr Sellier Bellot $8.00 per 50, I've only been shooting seriously for a couple of months now, I am doing 5" groups and getting better...holding 3" groups is going to take some serious work I suspect.

I am basically shooting slow fire...

I also have a Glock 17 that I try every once in awhile but the BHP is what I am most comfortable with...
