H&K USP - weak magwell walls or my paranoia

I am considering buying a full-size USP and like what I read about it as well as how it handles (too bad never had a chance to try shooting one yet).

However, one thing that really surprised me is how weak the edges of the magwell are. When I took the mag out, I could noticeably squeeze these closer together with just two fingers. They have a thinner lower edge and I am a bit worried that if I drop the gun magwell down while tac reloading, I might just break them. If that happens, the whole frame goes, I'l need a new permit (not to mention the possibility of getting shot if this happens in a self-defense situation).

I am not a die-hard-steel-only kinda guy, but this makes me wonder a bit. Any opinions are quite welcome please

Thanks,

JP

1- they are fine. plenty strong.
2- tac reloading is a great way to lose all your precious mags and be SOL in a fight. start getting out of that stupid habit and retain your mags always, even during training. perfect practice make perfect.

Oddly enough, HK polymer feels kinda flimsy. I'm gonna agree with you there. They scratch easily, the plastic magazines... no matter how durable still bug me. But I've yet to experience any problems with the HK plastic guns.

They're durable. The magwells may be as flimsy feeling as the magazines... but they ain't gonna crack or fall off on ya.

You do realize that there is a flaw in every weapon.

SIGs crack frames.
Glocks KB.
S&Ws have locks that break.
Rugers throw brass at you.
Kimbers MIM parts break.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

HK makes fine guns. Test yours and make sure, but my guess is it will be fine.

This (http://youtube.com/watch?v=FcsY0zaL3j4) YouTube video shows some of their products being subjected to various abuse, including having a USP frame beaten with a hammer. I wouldn't be concerned.

I never saw the point in tac-reloading; I mean I do it in video games but I would never try in real life.

HKs are made of strong stuff. Thin or not, its not gonna shatter if you drop it.
