I need a some help making a decision.

I currently own the following handguns:

1. Smith and Wesson .38 Special Model 36 snub-nose
2. Taurus Raging bull 44 Magnum Model M444 8 3/8in barrel
3. East German Makarov 9X18
4. Kel-Tec .32 ACP P32
5. Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Full-Size Mil-Spec
6. Ruger .22LR 22/45 Slab-side barrell

Here is the situation. I have wanted a 9mm (9X19) caliber pistol for a very long time - both for fun-shooting at the range, and for occasional concealed carry. I have considered the Springfield XD, the Browning Hi-Power, and the Glock 26 and 19.

I have decided to get the Glock 26 when the time comes to finally get one - as I may decide to carry it as a personal defense gun sometimes.

However, to make this happen, I must sell one of my other guns. The only one I would even consider selling is the Taurus 44 Magnum. The reason I originally purchased the 44 Magnum was for large game hunting. Realistically speaking, if I am going to be hunting bear, deer, or wild boar - I will most likely take a rifle. I like the revolver, and one day I know that I will eventually need a rifle like this one, but I really want that Glock 26 now.

Also, since quite a few of the students who take my courses have Glocks, it would be nice if I had one as well so I can learn the quirks about them, etc.

Should I trade my Taurus 44 Magnum in on the Glock? Or what?

I'd keep the Taurus and buy a Glock anyway... I know it's financially difficult, but that particular model of Taurus is a nice one. However, if you're set on it, by all means trade it for the Glock. Personally, I'd recommend the G19 rather than the G26 - the 19 is almost as easy to conceal, and gives you a full-size grip. However, the 26 is a fine gun in its own right, so if that size is what you want, go for it.

Why do you have to sell another gun? I bought a used G22 for range use mainly, it just takes a little bit each month financially, or this a requirement from a significant other?

When I rented a G26, I have wanted one ever since, easy to shoot, aim, and accurate. Though I haven't gotten around to that one either (the AR-15 and other stuff jumped in line)

And you have two personal defense guns already, the .38 Special and P32, could both be carried without a problem. So why do you really want the G26? Hmm... :)

I would trade the Taurus if I had to do it... but would end up buying another to replace it later most likely. I just can't imagine selling or trading unless I am in absolute dire needs.

I think I will just save up and buy the Glock without selling my 44 Magnum. I sold my Taurus .357 7-shot Stainless Steel snub-nose M617 - in order to buy another gun, and I haven't really regretted it. However, with this 44 magnum it would be different - because it is very suitable for what I purchased it to do, and I *know* that I would eventually buy another 44 magnum to replace it anyway.

One local gun shop has a new Glock 26 for $484, and another one has it for $597. If anyone knows where I can get one for a better price than that, I am definately open to suggestion.

TD: The G26 is a great little pistol. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used Glock. There's not much a previous owner could have done to harm one. As a matter of fact, my next gun purchase probably will be a used G26.

If the Taurus has served you well, don't sell it. But, if you really need that 26 and selling one to buy one has to be done & the Taurus has worn out its usefullness...do it. (How's that for non-commital!)

Do some shopping around. You should be able to find a better price. I bought a G26 with factory night sights for $499 plus tax here in Texas.

I own the G19 and G26. The G19 came first. Then I got the G26. The G26 is a little easier to conceal. They both shoot about the same - pretty darn accurate.

I just added a G23 to my collection. When I can adequately conceal it, it is my carry weapon of choice.

Thinking about getting a Glock 19 or 26 (leaning towards a 26). Right now I have a Beretta 92, Beretta 9000s, and a Kel-tec P32. Financial advisor (the wife) told me one of them must go. So looks like I'll be getting rid of the 9000s to support the purchase.

Any comments on the 19 or 26?

I too debated the 26 -vs- 19. I checked them both out. The 26 felt funny because it left my pinky finger dangling. I tried it with the magazine extension, which felt good, but at that point I think one would be better served by the 19. I went 19.

I too wonder about the G26. How does it shoot.. really? How could it be as accurate as the longer slide, barrel and sight radius G19 on the same platform? Any one ever shot one in competition?? How fast can you go??

It hurts my hands when I shoot it and recoils more than the G19..what am I missing about the G26? How much more concealable is it??

I think most of the guys have put the hores before the wagon. I would suggest you shoot it and see if you like the way it feels before you go chunking money down on it.

I have no shooting experience with the BHP, however, I do with the xd and glock. Of the two I would like the feel of the xd much better.

Go rent it or borrow it from someone and see if you like it before you chunk 450 on a pistol you find out you dont like. Thats an expensive mistake.

Personally, I prefer the Glocks over the Springfield XD. I own both the 26 and 19. Both are excellent 9mm handguns. The 26 is more concealable, but shoots just as well as the 19. Definitely try before you buy, if you can. You won't go wrong with either the 19 or 26.

I picked up my first Glock within the last couple of months. I am completely satisfied with it. I now have a 19 and a 26. If I was going to have just one, I would go with the 19. It shoots great and fits well in my hand.

I've had a G19 for 12 years. The only thing I've replaced are the mag springs. It's my primary carry. I wear it IWB with shorts, tshirt and sandals. Conceals comfortably considering the South FL heat\humidity. All it does is throw lead and spit brass without a gag, choke or hiccup. The grip is not for everyone.

G19 is a great pistol. I bought mine used 3 yrs ago. Yesterday the hook on the extractor broke. Also noticed the spring on the slide stop was worn. Ordered a couple parts, will be back up and running soon.

Buy the Glock. If you decide in a year or two you want something else, the Glock will be easy to trade. Have you checked out the CZ 9mm compacts? I bought a 9mm PCR Monday for $399.00 out the door. :D

never had range time with a g26 but i have with its brother g27. Very accurate IMO. Rented a subcompact for the first time and put 46 of 50 rounds through the ten. Im sure the g26 will be softer on the recoil but consider the g27 since .357 barrels are drop in and you can still get and aftermarket 9mm barrel too...

keep the .44mag if you can but if you really want the glock, TRADE IT

Sell the Taurus! My advice is to get a Glock 19, not a 26. The 19 is almost as concealable and does alot more things better than the 26.

Dump the inferior Taurus for Glock perfection in a heartbeat.

Had 3 Tauri over the years---when I was young--dumb and broke ---- it was all I could afford------funny thing is I don't regret dumping any of them for better hardware.
