Today I bought a used S&W 442 with the idea of carrying it as a backup in an ankle holster while traveling. It seems to be a good way to carry while in a car. I would appreciate any suggestions as to type and brand that have worked for you. Thanks in advance.

Alessi. If you want my longer response, please search for the recent thread on the same subject right here on THR. My wrists and forearms are having a bad day.

Thanks for your response. I have never been able to get the search function here to return any usable responses. Foe example, if I search on 442 ankle holster a I get every thread with 442 or ankle or holster which is such a large number of threads, mostly with nothing whatever to do with my question, that it is useless. If you can suggest how to refine the search to return a reasonable number of relevant responses, I would be grateful.

Look in Strategies and Tactics; I bumped the earlier ankle holster topic to the top.

I saw it Rexter, thanks. It looks like it is better to stay with the high end stuff.

I've been carrying in a Galco Ankle Glove for longer than I can remember. After the first day or so you forget its there.

Anything by Alessi is top notch, including his ankle rig...but besides being much more expensive, an Alessi will take 4-6 months at the minimum...you can have a Renegade in about a week..and if you don't like it, you can get your money back by selling it here and order the Alessi...or use the Renegade until the Alessi arrives....that said, all my belt holsters are made by Del Fatti and Alessi but I don't always recommend them to someone looking for a right now rig (Del Fatti is at 2 years)....with these guys, it is best to order your dream rig but pick something up in the meantime..but with the Renegade, I doubt you'll feel the need to replace it...btw, my partner has the Galco and it too works very well...and it's always in stock...
