Hello all! I was given a GT automatic knife as a present for training the then owner of Gunsite Training Center to edit and shoot video. He gave it to me and let me know it had been given to him by the owner of GT knives and that it is a working prototype. It is beautiful, and a clip point auto. My real question is, as I live in New Mexico, am I in violation of any real enforced laws that disallow me from owning it if I do not carry it. I have read that true automatic knives are illegal here but now in the days of spring assisted or assisted knives being sold legally over the counter, even at Wal MArt, am I open to any laws just by owning such a piece?

I do not carry it since I can actually get a regular tactical knife open faster, and don't want to ruin any collector value it definitely has. Another question, does anyone have any idea what possible collector value it may have as far as a value or dollar amount it may have being what it is?

Thanks!

A quick search of New Mexico law shows that possession of a switchblade is a misdemeanor.

The GT that you have is a pretty nice knife. They had 3 different models, a Ca-legal mini and a full size auto and then an limited model that used an elastomer "plug" that was compressed under the tang and pushed the blade away from the scales when the button was release. They also had one of the nicest pivot/button locks going.
