Excellent. Thick primer cups as well.

Use in 17 Rem, 204, 223, & 223AI.

I have yet to find a load that would need magnum primers in a 223.
I use A2230 under 55 grain bullets, and A2520 under 68 and 75 grainers, and have yet to experience the erratic ignition that ball powders are reputed to have.

The CCI mil-spec small rifle primers (#41) are small rifle magnum primers so the 450's will work fine. Develop your loads with them from the start. They will raise peak pressure if you substitute them for normal small rifle primers and don't reduce the powder charge.

Used the standard, small rifle Win primer for a sighting shot. The results of 4 other primers, using same headstamped cases, and the exact same powder charge (Acculab scale) as follows:

CCI450 3546.8
Rem 6.5 3557.1
Fed 205 3488.6
Fed 205M 3506.3

Shot over a Pact chronograph with a 14 foot distance to the first skyscreen. These were shot out of a 28" PacNor barrel chambered in 223AI.

I have found that I get better overall performance, using the 450s with V-V N-140, 540, and heavy bullets. For all the "Extreme" powders the BR-4s seem to work best.
