I was wondering if there was anyone in the Canton Ohio area that would let me try out thier 10mm. It is purely innocent, I just want to fondle, druel and fire about 10 rounds. I do not know of any ranges that rent guns and I have not found any stores that carry 10's in stock. You cannot try them out without buying them and waiting for them to show up. I will buy one this fall/winter. I am looking first at the G20 then the 29 or the Wittness. Any 1911 styles that could be purchased new for under $800 would also be appreciated. I am willing to pay for ammo and a "rental fee". We could meet at an indoor range or out at my inlaws house (about 20 min from Canton where I do all my shooting).

Dan Wesson Razorback (RZ-10) should be a 10mm 1911 within your $800 price range... People seem to be happy with them. Some suffer from a few initial QA issues, but those are taken care of by DW very quickly and professionally. There are indoor ranges just west of Canton that have gun rentals. One of them is in Canal Fulton and is called Hidden Arms, I think. I've been gone a year and the name escapes me now.

There is another one called (something) Sports. It's out by the FedEx drop-off building just a little south and west of Canton. They have an indoor range, but I can't remember about rental guns.
