Hi, I'm wondering why Daewoo DR200 rifle was banned. Was it done as part of the '94 AWB? Or was it banned before that? I'd also like to know if parts will be allowed in after the sunset of AWB in 2004?

I heard the elder George Bush banned it, I hope parts are available after the AWB expires because I have one and the thumb hole stock is less than attractive.

It wasn't banned, IIRC. It was discontinued by the maker. Daewoo has bigger fish to fry and didn't want to deal with it any more. The DR200 was compliant with both the AWB and the Elder George Bush did ban the original version from which the DR-200 came from. The DR200 was compliant though. I'm almost positive I've researched this in the past.

Does that mean it's legal to import parts for dr200 if they can be found. When you say discontinue do you mean selling it in the USA or making it ? I thought that the South Korean army uses it.

Making the US version. If you can find them, you can still import parts for it, no problem. Good luck finding them. Note: I'm not a lawyer so double-check the laws before you go putting yourself in jail.

It is hypothetically possible for someone with the proper importing permits and licenses to import the parts.

I think one of the biggest problems is that Daewoo has no intention/need/desire of supporting the "spare parts market".

I recall a thread over on AR15.com where someone actually had some round about connections at Daewoo("My brother married the sister of the.....) and even trying to go "back door" couldn't get parts.
