What choke should I use for trying to shoot hand tossed clays. I want to toss them straight up in the air and shoot them. I also like tossing empty hulls up and shooting at them but Im not real good at it. Is there a trick to hitting them , how much do you leadem?

For clays I use modified, because it can shoot at a good range and still hit the target. I never use hand tossed clays personaly because I can never get someone to throw them right, so I gave up on those and bought a thrower with a pedal.

Most open choke you have. IC, Cylinder bore, or Skeet. Best bet is an un-choked barrel like a home defense 18", or you can find Cylinder Bore screw-ins sometimes. There are also special "spreader" wads and various old tricks to get a big pattern close to the gun, like using "reclaimed" shot, which is dug up at clay ranges. You'll have to load those yourself, but they do produce a big pattern. Or use a handgun with snake loads (expensive, but the pattern spreads fast!).
That said, I've hit them with a .223 carbine (someone else throwing them, and a mountain as a backstop).
What I like is this thing that looks like a Chuck-it (used to throw tennis balls for dogs). Cheap, simple, works well. Or, try the Hyper Disc Thrower. Get extra rubber bands and have fun!

+1 for the skeet choke. I always just threw them myself - I could hit 3 hand thrown clays in the air with my 870 (every once in a while).

I just got into clay shooting, and used an improved cylinder choke, works great for how far I am throwing them. As for leading, if someone throws them to the side, I lead 6-10" and I hit them, so good luck.

I tried to shoot hand thrown with a mod choke, that was not happening! My buddy with a cylinder bore could hit them all. They were flying 20-30 yards if my memory is correct, and they did NOT float, just up, then straight down.

On things going straight up, they will come straight down. The time to shoot them is that instant when they reach the top and just begin to start back down. They seem to almost stop for a brief instant at that point. No lead needed then, you just have to slap the trigger at that time.
