At our bullseye match tonight I was using my RugerMkII .22. I had the shakes bad at 50 yards so didn't think I would be able to break 800- I shot a 793.
At 25 yards timed fire I shot my first clean, a 100 6-X.
It sure does feel good, almost as good as the 824 I shot a couple of weeks ago.
Now, if I can settle the shakes down a little- less caffeine should help, I have found some new ammo to use.
I tried some RWS Rifle Target and some Eley Sport. Tonight at least they bost shot the same size group off sandbags. I will do more testing to decide which to use, but both shot smaller groups than the Winchester Super-X I have been using, and the Eley Sport is cheaper than the Winchester.

Good job. Now you just have to do it with the .45. :)
I've done it with my Clark .38 1911 but have only gotten close with the .45.
Hopefully we'll see you at the Dallas Pistol Club matches sometime.

Congratulations! Nothing like a clean target to remind yourself what can happen when it all comes together for 10 shots in a row.

That's a keeper.

I do need to really work on shooting my .45 better. The best score I have had with it is a 777. I shot an 824 with my .22, and the .45 score is going up at a steady rate.
If I can just get my wobble to settle down sooner. I usually get steadier around midmatch- unless I am really tired and sore then it doesn't settle much.

>>If I can just get my wobble to settle down sooner.<<

One thing I struggle with, especially in slow fire and the first shot of timed, is waiting too long and trying to make the shot absolutely perfect. I went to a bullseye clinic last spring, and one of the more eye-opening concepts was the idea that you can't wait for a perfect sight picture to start the trigger moving. Once you've settled down into the black, the trigger has to start moving - and keep moving - through the last bit of settling in so that the gun goes off at your point of steadiest hold.

It's impossible to move the trigger without disturbing the sights to some degree, so if you're starting the trigger with perfect sight picture, you can only make it worse. I'm still working to ingrain that idea in my head, but my scores have gone up over the summer.
