those crazy japanese are at it again!

around 1:10 seconds it gets real interesting, with super slow mo video of katana's splitting 9mm bullets in half in flight.

I would have been surprised if a lead bullet could have actually affected a carbon steel sword with a 57 to 60 RC hardness.

And it did exactly what I thought it would do. Cut the bullet in half.

Much like if you threw a watermelon at a sword or a baseball.

There have been a couple of different Sword vs Bullet demonstrations conducted.

As long as the bullet is centered on the edge the blade survives a single shot. Those demonstrations where the bullet isn't centered or where the sword receives multiple rounds show the edge chipping and the sword breaking. Regardless, pretty impressive when slowed down enough to see the impact.
