i dont mind driving a ways for a decent place to shoot. ive always been able to shoot on my familys land but thats in MN and IA, so im trying to make do here. ideally, id like to find someplace thats not overly crowded (or at least not a lot of yahoos) and has facilities for shotgun and rifle. i dont care so much about pistol since gun city is close to where im at, but id like to get outside and get some rifle and shotgun practice.

Stones River Hunter Education Center
Owl Hollow Gun Club
The Academy Of Self Preservation ASP
On Target

Those are a few worth checking out. Gun City, at least in the past, used to be downright dangerous. Not sure if they have fixed any of the issues or not.

+1 on avoiding Gun City, if you can.

Stones River Hunter Education Center on Hobson Pike is a really nice place, they run a VERY safe facility. Rifles and shotguns welcome.

I've also heard good things about Guns and Leather indoor range in Greenbrier. They also teach the Carry Permit class there.

Maury county Gun Club has 3 pistol ranges , a 200 yard rifle range , 5 skeet ranges and 2 trap ranges , We have rifle competition , pistol comps and skeet comps. You can get your fill of shooting and most people are nice.

Mufreesboro has an indoor range I think its called On Target , They run a tight ship if you like indoor shooting.

Listen to Don (above.) The TWRA range in Cheatham Co. is the best I've been to yet. No one official to bother you at all. Cease fires are a majority rule kind of thing. Hardly any range-is-cold time at all. You have to bring stuff to drink, eat or shoot at because there's nowhere to buy them but it's worth it to be left alone to shoot. Bring a stapler. Call this place for info:
Swaw’s Wildlife Market Incorporated (615) 792-4220

Petway is also 259 right? I've been out that a few years back. It's a pretty relaxed place to shoot.
