Do you have any more info on it? Any idea how the underfolder and pistol grip are made/attached? Is the upper handguard homemade? For that matter, is the whole thing homemade, or an official-but-rare military variant?

Looks fake to me, considering that looks like a Spanish bayonet (most certainly isn't a Hakim bayo) and not a Hakim magazine and everything looks a bit, well, squared to be real-deal.

Of course, I could be wrong.

justy -

You neeed to put in more time in the East and the Far East. Judging by the fruit of that project, you obviously have waaaay too much unoccupied time on your hands.

You are - it's real, and it's loud ;)

The mag is an MG-13 mag modified for a Hakim

Federal Arms, Inc. (Formerly FAC) of St Paul, Minnesota used to make a 20 round aftermarket magazine for the Hakim. Magazines for the Hakim are scarce. I got an original 10 rounder and the 20 rounder with the rifle and bought another 10 round aftermarket mag from Numrich for ~ $50.

It's a real rifle, but it's not a real Para Hakim. It's a bubba contraption.

So basically, we took a $600-700 vintage rifle and with much fabrication, turned it into a $200-300 Mini-14 that shoots 8mm?

Is that a CETME bayonet on it?

What is it with people and their snotty assumptions?

i got this as one of the "incomplete specials" that relichunter was blowing out on gunbroker 6 months ago. somebody else had bought it from him and chopped the barrel, and i bought it cheap from them. it was missing handguard, buttplate, front end metal, etc. with today's market in hakim parts dry as the sahara desert, it was unrestorable. it was a good basis for a custom firebreather, though.

Though, it still looks like something the A-team would use. :neener:

I like IT!

But I am sure that thing is louder than hell. My bone stock Hakim is the loudest firearm I own. I too have a converted MG-13 magzine that I play around with occasionally, it works perfectly. If the Germans have had those in WWII instead of the FG-42's.... Hmmm...

I might try something like that with mine since it appears that my Hakim has a headspace problem in which it will not cycle brass cased ammo. For some reason, the mildly corrosive 70's Romanian surplus works pretty well though. I don't think mine has much collector value but it is one hell of a rifle to shoot!

So long as you kept the recoil suppressor on it. I really like mine, soft on the shoulder (of course it weighs a bazillion pounds, too) and the muzzle blast back from the ports on that suppressor is pretty impressive. LOL Didn't cut mine down, though, full length with a bayonet. It would look right at home in a Macedonian Phalanx with the pike wielding front row. :D

For compact (okay, it's a wimpy cartridge) I built a folder out of a Norinco SKS paratrooper carbine. I took the easy way out.

WOW, that's what they're goin' for, now? You're kiddin', right? I ordered mine back when (around 1990 I think) for 80 bucks in NRA very good and the metal is fantastic, fired once, dropped in the sand, imported from Israeli arsenals captured in the 67 war or some such. I like the history of the thing, but if I can get 700 for mine (I have the original bayonet, too) I'd sell in a heartbeat! ROFL! My God, wonder what one of those Rashids is going for now, were like 179 when I got the Hakim and I thought they were too high. They're rather rare, I think, compared to Hakims.

I've only seen like 2 Rasheeds for sale (in the last 12 months) and both were for about $400. I haven't seen any Hakims for sale in some time. My guess is that they go for about ~$500 or so...

Wowsers, whadda deal! ROFLMAO I knew 80 bucks was a safe investment in steel and wood, and my God, there's a lot of it. Musta took a whole birch tree to make the stock and the metal from a half dozen old panzers rustin' in the desert to machine that much barrel. LOL! The thing is like, you need to mount it in the door of a Huey to effectively deploy it.

It's fun, though. It's like shooting a Browning BAR or something. LOL! It's a great range fun gun, but gotta be careful what ammo you load in it. I never quite got the gas valve adjustment thing down good. It don't like Turkish surplus much, either, from what I've read. Mine's yet to bust an extractor, though, and I've fired over a thousand rounds of surplus 8x57 out of it.

One day, some guys at work wanted to do a range day, so we all met at a range about 40 minutes from me. We were shooting groups with sporting rifles, shooting handguns, one guy whips out an Uzi semi auto and starts popping at a 50 yard target. I sat down with the Hakim with a big grin on my face, took aim at a 50 yard gong, and plastered it with 10 rounds about as fast as I could pull the trigger. One of the guy's wife was sitting next to me and the blast off that muzzle break blew her hat off. It was classic! Everyone in the place wanted to know what the hell that thing was! LOL!

I wouldn't mind moddin' one of those MG15 mags, but I read that they also require carving on the gun and I ain't carvin' on the gun if it's worth THAT much, LOL! I used to call it an 80 dollar POS, now I have a whole new respect for the thing. LOL!
