I have recently moved to NC. I am taking their CCW course and am using it as a reason to buy an new pistol.

I have always carried an H&K USP .40 before.

Now I am drawn toward the Sig P239 SAS .40 or the FN Five seveN. Obviously one it much larger then the other, but the 5/7 is much lighter and has a much higher muzzle velocity.

I an 5'8" and 230 lbs (yes, I am over weight. I love steak and backed potatoes.)

Any opinions?

BTW way, I had a custom made “small of the back” holster that did a good job of concealing then full frame USP, but it was heavy, not that I minded.

The P230 is beautiful. The Five seven is awesome. Most of my other pistols are .40

Double post...but since I am not very knowledgable about handguns, all I can say is if you really want a new one just get it, you probably won't regret doing so.

The Five SeveN feels like a toy. I wanted one until I held one. Then I was vaguely bemused and slightly disgusted.

I wanted a 5.7 until I priced the ammo
I'd stick w/ HK...if you have to change, get a P2000sk in 40 :D

I was also interested in the Five SeveN but less interested when I saw the price of the gun AND the price of the ammo...

I own three Sigs (not the one your interested in) but they are very nice guns. I have the P232 in .380 (just got it) an old P226 in 9mm (bought used, but has been very reliable) and a Trailside in .22LR. The Trailside is arguably not really a Sig, but its a fantastic gun.
