I am looking to rebarrel a Ruger#1 45/70 with a LONG barrel (30"+) and was wondering about the availability of long .458" barrels for it.

Is this a custom barrel or does Shilen and the like have these on the shelf?

Mike

Badger barrel blanks are 34" long, Kreigers are 35". You will lose some length to truing up for profiling, threading, and chambering, but 30" would be no problem. A loooong barrel for a Ruger will likely be a full custom project, I have not seen .45-70 finished barrels for anything but Winchester, and semi-finished for Sharps. But I have not been in BPCR long and somebody might make them.
