I know it says "Give me your wretched refuse" but surely there are some standards...

There's more to being a citizen than the credentials...particularly an American citizen.

Sooner or later we as a country must implement some kind of standards. You leave the door open and look at what wanders in.

Hey, at least the goober followed the law and did it by the numbers. Now I expect we'll see fair reporting from the southern border. Peter is in his Tilley shirt commenting in a hushed voice as his cameraman using a night vision lens pans over the Arizona landscape countring the number of aliens entering the US illegally. Yes, sir. The solution to our immigration problems is only a few broadcasts away.

He got his green card during another "amnesty" a few years back. An INS guy told me Jennings was spotted standing in a line of Mexicans applying for the amnesty and they thought he was in the wrong line. When they figured out who he was and why he was there, they had a big laugh. Until that time, he had worked here illegally.

Any chance we can give him back? There has to be at least one mistake somewhere in the paperwork he filled out for citizenship. Falsifying government documents should be enough to give him the boot.

I already thought he had PRC, Iraqi, Cuban, and N. Korean citizenship? I guess this will self-justify biting the hand that feeds him. :barf:

The oath of allegiance is:

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

In some cases, INS allows the oath to be taken without the clauses:

". . .that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by law. . ."

if he keeps his Canadian Citizenship then he is a documented oath breaker..

I'll try another tack... (being theHighRoad and all)

Congratulations Mr Jennings. You sir, having made quite a commitment, are now free to do many things, unlike citizens of a host of other nations and governments. To Vote, sit on a jury, run for office (some restrictions still apply) volunteer your time for community service...

I was lucky. I was born a citizen of the US, a free man.

You tho' and others like you, who come from other lands, chose to "give up" your citizenship and re-affirm same said allegiance to "the land of the free, home of the brave... at a time in history when thats not a popular club to join.

Now Peter, make it count. We'll be watching and hoping for good things from ya :D Sing a new song.

Adios

An American citizen now eh?:scrutiny: I guess this means he can now be charged with treason for his part in trying to undermine the Constitution.

He may be a U.S. citizen, but he's no American.
