I got a Remington 700LTR built for me for my birthday and was wondering what is the cheapest ammo I can use that won't damage the bore. I have some federal gold match and the gun is shooting 1/2moa with it and I wanted to have some shooting ammo that didn't cost forty bucks a box. I'll post some pics of the gun later.

I would worry more about shooting too fast and overheating the barrel or damaging it during cleaning then bullet wear. Heat and pressure is the ban of your bore and all factory ammo is loaded to very similar pressures. The choice of ammo as long as you avoid corrosive stuff isn`t a big factor in barrel life.

what about that Monarch stuff they sell, its non-corrosive and cheap enough?

This is why they make reloading stuff ...........................:scrutiny:

Heat is what kills a barrel . When it gets to hot to touch let it cool . DO NOT shoot surplus 762x51 in it .

speaking of reloading, I've wanted to get into it and what do I need for a good setup. P.S. I'm thinking about getting the lee aniversary kit, but what else do I need?

If you've got a .308, you can run 7.62x51 NATO through it. It'll be fine. It's actually loaded lighter than commercial .308. A gun's meant to be shot, and like what others have said, cleaning a gun improperly will hurt you more than shooting it while it is hot.
