I know that the admins removed the "quote" button due to abuse ("+1" and stuff). However, the "quote" button can be useful in viewing the raw text. A person might see another use fancy text in their post, and they may be too embarassed to ask, fearing that they might be considered "forum illiterate."
So my suggestion is: how about add a "view raw text" button instead of "quote" with no reply button?
Alternatively, here is another suggestion. I've been to another forum (Newgrounds) where there JavaScript is used to detect excessive quoting, and users will be reminded that they should only quote parts they need. THis might require a lot of programming, though.
By the way, for those who DO want a faster way of quoting, here's a way, but it works only on the first and last post on a page:
When you click reply, the URL looks something like this:
thehighroad.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=[post ID]
Simply remove the "&noquote=1" part. :) To quote the first post on a page, click the "new reply" button at the top; to quote the last post, click the one at the button.
Hey, maybe someone should write a Firefox extension that allows easy quoting. After all, anyone who goes great lengths to install an extension is more likely to be a serious poster rather than a spammer. :)
