Saiga Question

So I couldn't decide whether to post this in Shotguns or Rifle Country, so I put it here instead. Mods: Feel free to move it to a better location if needed
I've not had too much luck researching Saigas, but I understand that they are available in both rifle and shotgun configurations. I'm wanting a 12 gauge really bad, and wonder if I can (easily and cheaply) convert a Saiga rifle into a shotgun.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,
Greg

No.
They are two different critters.
The prices are so low, just buy one.

There is a forum for Siaga's. Plenty of info there.

How much (ballpark figure of course) am I looking at? Just bought an AR-15 and red-dot, and I already have a Winchester 1300 Defender, is it cheap enough that I can justify it to myself?

I was looking at some vendors t'other day and you can get 7.62x39 or .223 Saigas or .410 Saiga shottys for under or around $250.

How much?As stated above, you can sometimes find some models under $250. But expect $250 to $300 most places, with the .308 often going for a little over $300. (Not that I haven't seen some gun show prices way above this range.) This thread lists some on-line retailers, you can check their prices:

Try the search function here on THR with the key word "Saiga", and try the Fountain of Saiga Knowledge:

I have a Saiga in .308 with plans to get the 12 Ga. sometime in the coming months. For the price and quality of the build I couldn't be more happy with the expenditure. My opinion is buy with confidence.
I'll second the notion that they are cheap enough to buy one of each. I gave $319+tax for my .308 at a Houston gun show. BNIB. My only regret is I haven't taken the time to convert it back to pistol grip configuration. I understand it's a simple process, I just haven't gathered enough stones to embark on that particular journey.
