.22 Magnum on the way

For some reason I've acquired the want for a .22 Magnum rifle. I know, it'll be more expensive to shoot than a .22 LR, but for some reason I just want one.
So, I went up to Surplus City tonight and worked out a trade whereby I'll be getting a Savage 93GL left-handed bolt action, as seen at:
http://www.savagearms.com/rimfire/magnum_series/93g.htm
(I traded off my SAR-1. I still have my Izhmash AK which I like better.)
This will be my first gun in .22 WMRF. For those of your with .22 Magnum rifles, what ammo have you experienced good results? How about ammo to avoid? I'm planning to try different flavors but figured I'd pick your brains first.
TIA.

CCI is great varmint ammo. I also like the v-max round as well. The .22 mag is a blast! Have fun!

I have tried every type and brand of 22 Mag ammo I come across. The best (also in many other 22 Mags) is the Remington PREMIER 33gr Vmax, next in accuracy is Winchester Varmint 34gr HP, then CCI Maxi-Mag 40gr solid and HP. All the others did "ho-hum" with some getting close to the 3 first listed to dismal (6" @ 100yds) I can get honest, consistant 1" groups @ 100yds from my Marlin with the Remingtom Premier, 1-1/8" with the Winchester and 1-1/4" with the CCI.
If you are getting a Savage, I highly recommend the Rifle Basix sear for the Savage. I put one in my 17HMR and BOY! what a difference!

IMHO,
Worst ammo: CCI Maxi-Mag +V
Best ammo: Winchester 40 gr Super-X
Your rifle may shoot differently, but my NEF likes the Winchester ammo...
Anyway, have fun! .22 WMR is a great round, hits harder and has a much longer range than .22 LR, but still cheap to shoot compared to centerfire ammo...

I have a Marlin 25MN, and by far the most accurate ammo I have shot in it is the Win Super X 40 Gr JHP (1800 fps). I have also used the Win Supreme 34 grainer (1950 fps), an the CCI 30 grain TNT (2200 fps!!). They shoot good enough that I usually hunt crows with the TNT. It has more "POOF" factor:D .

Your rifle may shoot differently
Exactly.
My first rifle was a Marlin 882-22Mag.
There are places online where you can get some varmint 22Mag ammo.
Have fun.

CCI TNT = POOF
Remington Premiers
Winchester Supremes
All are excellent rounds.:D

Thanks, guys. I will post a report once I get the chance to shoot it. I am hoping that my dealer gets it in by Friday, so I can take it to the range Saturday.
