About two weeks ago I bought a 1941 91/30 Mosin, and cleaned it up, and took a few photos. You may like to see it! Mosins are great!

Nice. If this is your first, it surely won't be your last. Damn shame the cost of surplus 7.62x54R has doubled over the last few months.

Congrats on your Mosin. They are great rifles. Nice job on your picture page too.

I think you'll find that you can't have just one Mosin. I bought my first one a couple months ago and now I have three.

Your right, nobody can have just one. The thing that amazes me about these things is the fit and finish is not even close to that of a 03 or Mauser, and looking at the barrels, they look like little more than a piece of pipe. Very crude by American or European standards. But they do shoot. These are pics of what I believe is an original 91/30 sniper I picked up quite some time ago. If I remember correctly I paid $400 for it. I did some clean-up on it, reworked the trigger a bit and presto, you have a pretty darn nice piece of Russian junk. The target was a sight-in 6 in. high in preparation of using it to hunt P-dogs in eastern Colo. The load was 174 gr. Sierra MK .311 dia., 45 gr. Varget, Norma brass, CCI 250 primers. Poor lil' P-dogs :(

Character is what makes Mosins attractive. They are not just your average pretty rifle. They have a kind of rugged personality. I had a 1937 Mosin a few years ago, and sold it. Now I'm glad to have my 1941, and I don't think I'll ever let it go. I WOULD like to pick up an M44, too. And if I find any inexpensive ammo I will grab it quick, as it seems to be going away.
