My new, in Spring, single shot .223 has about 300 shots through it. However I used 120 shots of Wolf ammo. I cleaned the barrel each time and swabed the easy to get to internal parts.

The last 60 shots were Federal this Spring. It will not stay at full cock now. Is there a safety I forgot about? Or does it just need a better cleaning? 14 boxes Wolf .223 for sale cheap.

If its like my contender it has an overtravel screw, if you adjust the screw correctly it limits the triggers movement after the sear release and improves accuracy. If you overdo it the gun won't stay cocked.:)

Get out your manual and an allen wrench, back the overtravel screw out a 1/4 turn. I bet that will fix it.;)

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

I have tried to cock it with a strong light behind it and the trigger hits the overtravel screw. Now I just need a tiny hex wrench.

My .050 inch hex head wrench is still a little too big. I can order a smaller one online. I do not need the pistol for a long time.

What size is it and is it Torks, Allen, or somethig else?

Why don't you just go to the hardware store and get a hex assortment? They're only a couple bucks and I'm sure you'll need them again sometime.

I will send away for Allen wrenches under 0.050 inch, if I can find them.

It may be metric. I use metric allen wrenches all the time at work.

A google search gave me their website. I called and Gail answered and is sending me one out for free. I did not "look a gift horse in the mouth" and ask her style or size it is. They get a lot of calls for them as Gail said she keeps them in her drawer for when you guys call.

Gail sent me the wrong wrench but I found another. The overtravel screw is now backed almost all the way out with a clear 1/16" gap between the trigger and the screw.

It still does not come to full cock. T/C says to send it back. Well, it was too big for my hand anyway. I will need a T/C Contender. I have the old style wood with the thumb rest that I shot so well with in 1988. It does not fit an Encore frame.

T/C says their wood working plant burned down in 1995 and all wood is now subcontracted out.

Looking at Numrich they have no break downs, but they list the sear and trigger as seperate parts, wich is what I remember, so here goes.

The sear will not set if the trigger gaurd(AKA the release lever) has not been
pulled far enough to reset the sear.

So is the trigger gaurd moving far enough to reset the sear?

Or is the problem with the sear itself?

I don't have any break downs here, and I can't picture what the sear looks like right now,

So a few questions,

does the sear have an adjustment screw?

Is the trigger gaurd damaged?

Is the sear damaged?

Thank you. I will get to this tomorrow. Nothing appears to be damaged. It fell from the sandbag onto a plywood floor once when I tried hloding it too lightly. It has shot plenty of times since that one time. The fall may have damaged something but I cannot tell. It appears that the trigger guard is coming fully back but I cannot tell for sure without putting it back together and I have to go for today.
