Whew, just got my military army surplus mag to fit my new Thompson. Just needed a little drillin' to modify the hole for the catch. Funny, but I like the original surplus mag so much better ~ nice bluing and the spring feels so much better during loading.........wow.......gotta buy some more of these.

Anyhow, can't wait to test it out at the range. I'll re-post to give a report on which mag performs better. So far, the surplus mag is very impressive and at 1/3rd the cost. ;)

What kind of Thompson? M1 style or 1927?

Here's the pic.........I have the 1927A-1 but it'll take the 30-rnd sticks just like the M1 version. Main differences are my bolt knob is on top and the front grip is a finger-grooved pistol style.

The one on the left is the surplus I modified making the 'catch hole' elliptical. The one on the right is the factory supplied version pnt'd flat black.

Congrats on your Tommy Gun! With the slot on the back, I'm guessing that those mags lock in pretty solid?

Make sure to use proper etiquette when shooting the Thompson.
1. Dress for the ocassion. Oiled hair and a fedora is highly recommended. Pin-stripe suit likewise - but a white suit can be substituted.
2. Cigar or cigarette are also recommended.
3. Make sure to yell something before shooting. Always. Your gun may jam if you don't. Thompsons were designed to be fired while yelling: "You'll never catch me, Coppers!" and similar. You should find this provision in your manual, page 33.
4. Once you've run out of ammunition, it is customary to fall backwards, look starry-eyed, and say: "Mary, mother of God! Is this the end of Rico?"
5. Spectator shoes are practically compulsory, but they can be waived since Labor Day has come and gone.

Yeah, somewhat........there is a little slop or 'wiggle' room side to side......the rails do offer support but it's only the length of the trigger guard.

Guess it's better than most - see pic below with the surplus stick installed.
