10 mm Information

September 17, 2007, 11:19 PM
For those interested in the 10MM I did some research tonight. I have searched for every manufacturer of 10mm loads on the internet, and put together this list. If the space is blank, I could not find the information. I used the manufacturer's website for pricing and information if possible. If that was not available, I used the website where I found it first, or had the most information. You should shop for the best prices, some of the posted ones are not the cheapest. Please let me know if I left out any national distributors or companies that make 10mm auto ammunition. All Velocity and Energy measurements are at the muzzle (did not have the time or patience to extrapolate it further).

I hope this helps those of us who shoot the mighty 10.:)

Good old DoubleTap. I am impressed by how puny the ammo is from every other manufacturere except Buffalo Bore. Even Cor Bon is pretty weak.

I've tried Reeds and Double Tap, pretty peppy stuff.

Also, the American Eagle 10mm 180 grain plinkers were cheaper than listed at Sportsman's Warehouse on my last visit. Under $20 for 50 rounds. So I bought a box. I've had excellent results reloading that particular brass.

However, Reeds and DT use Starline, I have had them split on their second firing well below max loads using Unique and Speer 13 manual specs. One or two DT rounds split on their first firing, FWIW, they were nickel plated DT stamped brass. I'm not trying to badmouth any product here, only share my results. I have not had good luck with Starline brass in the 10mm cartridge is all. Which I find particularly odd since I see Starline often touted as the best brass there is.

Thanks for being kind enough to put a list together for everyone Acera. The 10mm is my favorite round. And I started reloading because of the 10mm round. However, finding brass, as any 10mm knows, is no easy feat.

I wish SW or Ruger would come out with a 10mm revolver. To me it is the perfect "sweet spot" round. Plenty of power, but not too powerful.

John, S&W did come out with a 10MM Revolver. It's the 610. I recently just sold it. The problem that I had with it is-you have to use moon clips. Personally, I hate using them. But, it's a very accurate pistol.

In addition to Bandit's mention of the S&W 610 (one for sale here at THR right now, although the price is steep) I'd like to mention the Ruger Buckeye, the 10mm version of the Blackhawk.

Great work! If you don't mind a suggestion involving even more work than you've alreay done, here's one: Let this thread stew for a couple of days then research all the additions you see.

Thanks again!

Thanks Mortech, I got those added. Anyone else got some others??

Well boomer, I did not take your advice and wait, lol. But thanks for the suggestion. I will keep checking and add new numbers as they come available.
