My dealer has a couple of these that came back from Europe. He told me they are essentially new guns cause the police force who ordered them in Europe refused them and they were brought back to the US. They don't have the full shroud and come with a leather holster. I was looking for a good truck gun and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them or know their history?

Pretty much any GP 100 is a great gun.

I have two of them: 6" barrel with short shroud and 4" barrel with full shroud. Both are very accurate and really easy to shoot. I prefer stainless steel to blued personally.

I've shot a few 3 inchers, but never one with the short shroud. All the 3 inchers I've tried had the full shroud. They shoot very well, and I'd expect the short shroud 3" model would shoot just as well, except its a tad bit lighter so recoil will be slightly greater.

GP-100s are awesome.

That was my first wheelgun. The double action is smmmoooooth! Its been a pretty reliable gun for me. I've put somewere in the neighborhood of 300 rounds into it since I picked it up a few months back. Stainless is the way to go. Great gun for the money!

I have a 3" GP100 that is one of my favorite handguns! Mine is the stainless with the full length shroud. It shoots very well indeed. It shoots right to the sights and handles any load well. Recoil is not a severe problem even with heavy loads. I have replaced the springs in mine with Wolfe springs, the lightest ones available for the GP100. It is still 100% reliable and has a much lighter trigger pull. I have 3 other GP100's but this one gets shot more than the others. Great Handgun! :D

I'd bet that GP w/ 3" barrel makes for a nice all around handgun...range, carry, maybe even some informal IDPA shooting.

I just received a 3" GP100 in great condition. It is marked on the side CAI Georgia VT. I haven't figured the markings out yet. The one I received had Hogue grips and a leather side holster. It shoots great the everything is real tight. Can't complain for the price.

My dealer told me that the CAI was for Century Arms International. I think I will pick one up in the next couple of days. The ones he has are sure in nice condition.

I bought one of those too, it had a bit of surface wear, but is a good shooter. I like the 3" barrel quite a bit. I did put some aftermarket grips on mine and that helped alot.

I got one of the CAI 3 incher just like the photo above. Mine also showed some scuff marks but mechanically it's perfect and seems like new. I would have to look up the price but it was quite low compared to new. I already had a newer 3 inch just like it but frankly, as much as I like GP100s, the older one is better than the newer one, at least it is tighter and I shoot it better. I sold the newer one (buying a house and trying to squirrel away extra cash) and kept the CAI version though it is not as pretty. Generally, I favor 4 inch and 6 inch GP100s but figured I ought to have one 3 inch even though I sure have no "need" for a fixed-sight snub GP100. It is nice though.

That's a really neat looking GP variant. I would be sorely tempted were I to run across one.

I'm curious who these guns were made for and are they built to their specs or Ruger's specs??? Mine had a little holster wear and the Hogue grips looked a little used but other than that its a great shooting and tight gun.

A little time in a bead blaster and it would look good.
