i have a ranger 22lr.
ranger (in my case) was a name used by sears when they sold guns back through the 40-60's , they paid other gunmakers to make their guns under the ranger name for them, so in essence, my gun is equivalent to a Stevens 66A

Ranger was a brand name used by Sears, Roebuck & Co. beginning around 1926. About 1936, Sears contracted Marlin Firearms Co. to manufacture an O/U shotgun for them.

Your gun is actually a Marlin model 90 O/U made for Sears before WWII.
Those made after WWII would have the J.C. Higgins trademark on them.
They were last made in 1963, with a total of about 34,000 made.

It has a malleable iron receiver, and I would not suggest a steady diet of Magnum loads.
